I used to go here when I was much fatter. Now that I am bench pressing 420 and flirting with a 36-inch waist, I don't see cause to come here much, but it's still pretty decent food. The burgers are not the best, but, as one other reviewer said, they will do in a pinch. The dogs are fantastic, but I tend to need four of them just to fight off the hunger crankiness. In other words, I'm still kind of hungry after four. (That is, I was; now that I have this awesome body, three hot dogs might fill me up. I really don't know. All I can say for certain is that I look guh-ood. Like, if I looked this good when Moses was around, God would've created an eleventh commandant**: "Dudes, don't be jealous of Tommy, and don't go wasting my time--sabbath or not--trying to be like him. It ain't never gonna happen.") Where Wojo's shines is in the shake and the ham and cheese department. Many establishments serve good shakes, but the shakes at Wojo's are memorably good. When I was twelve (and not yet fat), I went to Wojo's and consumed a strawberry shake that was so good that I could visualize the chemical reactions between the shake and my taste buds. It was like looking at a map of the Silver War, where next to the names of towns like Gettysburg or Chickamauga, the cartographer inserted an image of an explosive to indicate that a battle took place there. Well, while drinking down that damn shake, I could not help imagining my tongue splattered with little explosions. (That really did happen.) It was like there was an invasion, a war, going on in my mouth--except that this was a war for good, like Vietnam. I've never had a shake like since; in fact, taste invasions of my tongue have been few. Wojo's makes a good shake. Now, I know many people don't dig on swine, but if you want a ham and cheese, turn the damn frying pan off, fish the wrapper out of the garbage can and wrap the cheese back up in it, let your dog eat the ham, and head on over to Wojo's. You ain't gonna make it better than they do, so why bother? Far be it from me to discourage anyone (unless you work out and cannot put up 300 lbs.; if so, why bother working out at all? Why not just go skip some rope or double-dutch?), but it's best to know when you've been beaten. The ham and cheese sandwiches at Wojo's are delicious. The place is heavy on the calories, of course, which is why, the last time I went (two weeks ago), I got my son, in the middle of a three basketball game-Saturday, a few dogs and nothing for myself. Finally, I like Donald M.'s review--particularly the part in which he says, "This place has been here forever. . . . Don't over look this mom and pop place. Keep the character of America strong and screw the big guys." He's right. ** I am sure he meant to say "commandment."

Delicious food, large variety of food and shakes! Love everything about this place and their garlic & butter fries are delicious. Definitely a place to go to if nearby.

To be honest I have never had their food, but I have experienced their shakes. They are the best, and they have a huge range of Shake flavors...

Wojo's is a the stereotypical Chicago hotdog place. It is kind of a hole in the wall with the exception that Wojo's had a huge selection of shakes! Seriously, I love a shake as much if not more than the next person. I can get a different shake everyday for Wojo's for over 2 months now that is crazy! They all taste good which is awesome! The Chicago hot dog is decent as are the sides. My real reason for coming is to grab a milkshake! Also, timing is key when coming to Wojo's. If you do not want to be run over with high school students fresh out of Brother Rice and McAuley plan on coming before 2 pm or after 5 pm.

This place is awful. Not only are they over priced, but they're slow, and the employees are rude. Being my first time, I asked what came on a cheeseburger and the woman taking my order almost choked because she actually had to tell me. Not only that but I was with two children who are indecisive which also seemed to piss her off. To top it all off, the burger I got was cold. When I asked them to cut it, some teenage slob touched my food with his BARE HANDS and scraped all of my fries out of the basket. It should not be $21+ for two kids to eat a burger and fries. If you want quality food and are in the oak lawn area, go to Nicky's on 115th and Pulaski. Don't waste your time here.

Wojos has been a favorite of mine since I was a child. Its got a small town burger feel. Staff is nice and food is good!

Good clean food, made by people from the neighborhood. Dont misunderstand me this place will not be featured on any show on the food network, but it gets the job done.

Love this place love the hamburgers and the shakes don't care if prices are up and miss it since moved to Texas I go there every chance I go visit friends and staff is great

The food here was pretty mediocre, just another burger joint when it comes to that if you ask me. I suppose there is some draw if you're looking for wild game (elk, ostrich, buffalo). But my main reason to give this place a whirl was the very long list of milkshakes. And Wojo's successfully delivered all my hopes and dreams with the White Chocolate Oreo shake. I need to come back to happily make my way through the entire list.

A client of mine took me out to lunch here after a showing. She swears by it, and I can understand why. Tons of burgers, great waffle fries, and more milkshake flavors than you could invent in a week-long acid binge. Prices are good. I suspect because of the customization of the menu it might take awhile to get your food if they're busy.

Not my top choice for burgers and stuff on the south side but it will do in a pinch. Quality burgers (buffalo, elk, etc) and a good pizza puff. My daughter doesn't like the chicken nuggets here (always a good test) but generally the food is good. The shakes are the reason to come here. Good ice cream and lots of flavor choices. Lots. Everything you can imagine. We'll come here once in a while for a change of pace but I wouldn't call it a favorite place.
Any place that serves Seasoned waffle fries and 70 varieties of kick- ass shakes is awesome in my book. The prices are a bit steep, but in my opinion, didn't matter when i tasted how awesome the food was. Every thing that is ordered is cooked fresh, and it makes a big difference. I highly recommend the white chocolate strawberry shake.

I'd give this place 5 stars if there weren't an annoying abundance of teeny boppers in Letterman's jackets crowding this place to death. Awsome food, great shakes...even some flavor combos that...well just shouldn't be flavor combos. Been coming here for years, always had great service...expect to wait at least 10 min for your food..its a good thing, because they make your food fresh. Keep it up!

This place is right across the street from Brother Rice High School. They get PLENTY of business from Brother Rice and Mother McAuley. The other day my son who is a good kid not a trouble maker went into Wojo's with his football player teammates and ordered food. While he waited for his food to be prepared the manager asked all of the boys to leave. They were not being rowdy, just standing their looking at the menu talking. She said that if they wouldn't order they must leave. The other boys were still looking at the menu and said they had not decided yet. She told them if they didn't leave then she would call the police. The kids left and went back to Brother Rice and got one of the parents that were waiting for them which was a Cook County Sheriff. He went to Wojo's and asked what they did wrong and the woman said "Were a family-owned restaurant and don't want them sitting in here" They went back and fourth and finally my son said well if you won't let us sit here please refund my money. The woman refunded his money and my son said we won't come back. The manager replied "We don't care if you came back!" My son and his friends left and went to their competitor. VERY DISRESPECTFUL PLACE MY FAMILY WILL NOT BE BACK THERE ANYMORE. IF U ARE A PARENT CONSIDERING SENDING YOUR KID TO BROTHER RICE OR MOTHER MCAULEY DO NOT SPEND MONEY HERE!

Great place! They have 60 different shake flavors. They have unique meat options: elk, buffalo, ostrich, turkey, and veggie. This place has been here forever. I've been comin here for over 20 years. Don't over look this mom and pop place. Keep the character of America strong and screw the big guys.

I have always heard that this place was a legendary fast food Mecca. I'm sad to say it was a total disappointment. Just a quick snapshot ordered onion rings for 2.19 and received 6 onion rings. That .36 per onion ring. The food wasn't good and way overpriced. Oh well.

Have driven by and was curious of their menu. My brother and I decided to try it. 1 buffalo burger with Swiss and grilled onions, med diet, and fries for him. 1 1/4lb bacon burger With grilled onions tomato and cucumbers, and a med diet for myself. Total bill 18.88. We got our order, my brothers burger was a small patty with the melted Swiss and grilled onions lost in a huge sesame seed bun. Fries were well, fries. My bacon burger at least had additional toppings but was flavorless also lost in a huge bun. The best part of the meal was the bacon. We were both extremely unimpressed and dissatisfied. For the amount of money we spent we could have enjoyed a fabulous double bacon cheeseburger from Portillos At least our curiosity was sated. Will not be returning again.

I can't believe I have never reviewed this place. I've been coming here for over 10 years. I rarely order shakes, but always get them here! It's a typical greasy burger/hot dog joint. I always go with a cheeseburger and strawberry-banana shake. They also have elk, ostrich, tukey and buffalo meat along with veggie items. I've never gone that route though. I'm guessing if they can cook my meal right everytime they can manage those items too. 60 different shakes on the menu!!! You have to try one of these. Service can be a bit confusing at times. Seating is available but space can be limited at peak times.

Oh Wojo's your creepy wood paneled clown laden decor makes no sense, your wall to wall sun faded murals of little league teams just ads to the John Wayne Gacy vibe. Your service slow because you make things the same way since you opened all those years ago. So why put up with the creepy decor and slowness? Cause you have been doing things the same way since you opened. Your cheese sauce is to die for, you have burgers made from endangered species, bubble gum flavored shakes, and hot crispy waffle fries, you are the best place aside from Top Notch in the south side to get a burger and hand made shake. Don't ever change,

The bannana split milkshake is the best shake ever! It has real chunks of bannana and strawberry and is nice and thin. The burgers are very good, nice and greasy and cooked right when you order. They do take a while but everything is made to order and they do hustle. The only problem i realy have is they have teenage workers with no real supervision and no training in sanitation. The last time i went i was appaled to see the cook trow raw hamburgers on the grill and then put my lettuce and tomato on my meal without ever even wiping her hands (let alone WASHING them). The girl that was doing the frys kept wiping the sweat of her head and then using that hand to help make [people's sandwiches. Overall a five star dive that loses a point because they may kill me one day.

***This is a review is on SERVICE ONLY*** I stopped by here on my way home from work, because a friend told me this place was good, so I decided to check it out. I went in, looked over the menu and ordered a hot dog and fries. There were two other people there before me, that were there waiting on their food. Someone came in AFTER me, AFTER I took some time looking over the menu, ordered, and had already been sitting down waiting on my food that I ordered TO GO. The two people that were there before got their food before me of course, then when the person that came in AFTER me got their food BEFORE me, I was livid. I waited at least 20 minuets already, on a HOT DOG and FRIES!!?? REALLY??? I simply went up to the cashier and asked for my money back!! How ridiculous that I waited all that time, for food that was not even being prepared!! SERVICE: HORRIBLE FOOD: I don't know, the wait was TOO long!! I just want to shout out to the SLOW staff at Wojo's and the owners, that allow them to be so slow. My advice: BE PREPARED TO WAIT!!!

If you really enjoy milkshakes, then you probably know already know of the legendary Wojo's. This burger joint/greasy spoon on the southside serves over 60 flavors of shakes and malts---all of them awesome! Actually, I don't really know if they're ALL that great because I haven't tasted the 65+ flavors, but the few I've tried have really kicked it! They're kind of expensive (around $3.25), but they're HUGE and worth the investment for a taste of any of the crazy flavors like watermelon, grasshopper, banana moon pie, raspberry fluff, chocolate peanut butter fluff, chocolate coconut, rum eggnog, turtle, the "Elvis Shake", and artesian...I have no idea what the f that one is, but I'm sure it's rad. Wojo's food isn't half bad either. With a burger menu as large as their milkshake menu, you can be sure you'll find something to satisfy your craving. They pride themselves on buffalo, ostrich, and elk burgers. They're pretty good, but I'd stick to the regular burgers that are tender and greasy and taste like any awesome burger joint's burgers should taste. The only downside is that everything on the menu is kind of a la carte, except for a few select "combos". So if you're looking to buy a shake, burger, and fries, be prepared to spend anywhere from $8+. Someday I'll make it my passion to sample every milkshake flavor at Wojo's....and when I do, I'll be back up here with the verdict.

While I've loved Wojo's for as long as I can remember, my most recent trip was not a good one. The fries were undercooked & the burger was cold. I'll chalk it up to a bad day & I'll go back again, but after a long hiatus it was a disappointing return.

I don't know what day the other people on this site went to Wojo's but I went this past weekend and it was not all that good as expected based on the other reviews. I've had better burgers, the milkshakes were really milky (personal opinion) and the waffle fries were hard! Also, I got some cheese for my fries and it was very buttery (yuck!) I believe they are over rated, their prices are extremely high for what you get as well. Portilios burgers are Waaayy better they got Wojo's FADED!

Went here with my son today for late lunch/early dinner. There are over 60 different flavors of milkshakes! We ate there, and there was plenty of seating, but I don't know if there would be earlier or later in the day at peak meal times. Service was fast, we didn't have to wait long, but again it wasn't very busy. I got a steak sandwich and a banana split shake; both were very tasty, and my steak was cooked as specified. My son got an ostrich burger and a peanut butter chocolate shake. The shake was good; he told me he usually gets that flavor(I don't know why since theres such a large selection, I'd get a different flavor every time), but the burger was in his words "not good"; in my words it was terrible! It was like a freezer burnt turkey burger, but worse. If ostrich is supposed to taste like that, I don't know why people eat it! So I would recommend this place, but not the ostrich. My son says he's trying the elk next so if I taste it ill update.

Wojo's has been around since before I was born and I grew up eating here for years and over a decade later came back to eat again with my Mom who just got out of the hospital and a few friends either last year or earlier this year. The food is, and always has been, great. Wojo's offers dozens of different items on their menu, ranging from hot dogs, shrimp, burgers, dessert and beverages plus side orders, they are cooked well and taste great. They also offer exotic items such a buffalo burgers and ostrich burgers as well. The place is clean, neat and is located in Chicago's very nice and pleasent Mt. Greenwood neighborhood and is also close to Brother Rice High School and Saint Xavier University. All in all, I highly recommend this place to everyone, I give them 5 out of 5 stars. Great childhood memories btw, thanks Mom, Love Bob :)

The restaurant needs a face lift and their prices for regular dogs should be a little lower. Otherwise the food and shakes are delicious. It's not like you can go everywhere to get an elk burger. Service was relatively fast.

I have mixed feelings about this place. I stopped in the first time a few weeks ago to try out the shakes, which everybody was raving about. First up, the flavor of the month, Strawberry & Banana shake... the shake was very good, you could taste the fresh banana and chunks of strawberry. The flavors of both came thru nicely and were mixed into the creamy ice cream, to form a perfectly textured shake. Second visit.. I ordered the Pina Colada shake for the wifey.. now i was expecting a delicious shake along the lines of a virgin pina colada. Sadly, what i received was not what i expected. The girl who prepared my shake must have added the wrong combo of ingredients, is what I immediately thought when i tasted the shake. It tasted like a plain vanilla shake!! I immediately returned to the counter and advised the girl of the mistake I believed took place, but low and behold, the male working the counter said that she used the proper ingredient mix, but was polite and suggested they try again and add some more flavor.. well lucky me I thought.. we are going to get that delicous pina colada shake afterall... I gotta say that the second time around was a tad better, but i cant say the same for my wife. She was sooo disappointed that the shake was still not flavorful enough. I agreed with her opinion, but still was not ready to write this place off based on one subpar performance. I do want to thank the staff for trying.. they were very nice and understanding. I will be back to try some more shakes.. gosh with over 60 shakes, there has to be some more gems to be had. I also am itching to try their bison dogs, elk, turkey and buffalo burgers..

This place is great! Here's the straight up no BS review: the food is great, shakes are pretty awesome too. The service is mostly high school and college kids. I don't think I've ever seen anyone I've the age of 26 working behind the counter. So you get what you get when it comes to that but mostly really nice kids. The owners need to sink a little money into a new place or remodel. The 100 shakes they offer has a station big enough for barely one person to work but I always see 2 or more trying to make shakes. Then the decor is horrible. It's a small place with booth seating from 1961 when the average person was . . . A bit smaller. I like the fact they sponsor the local little league teams but if the photos are more than 5 years old remove them. (Like the ones from 1995) and where do I start on the creepy clowns hanging from umbrellas. . Other than that I'll continue to go there because the food is good and my kids love the shakes.

Eat a cheese dog with fries and one of their 60 or so flavors of shakes. Fries are super amazing Don't have a grilled chicken sandwich. It's bad. This place's bathroom is behind the kitchen, so it's awkward to ask/ go there. What's even more awkward is the multiple bold-typeface signings that say "don't flush tampons down toilet"
(4)
Tina B.
Despite an odd vibe of curt people and the creepy, grayish clowns hanging down from the ceiling (?), a menu with almost 100 different milkshake possibilities is a damn strong draw. Rum? Grasshopper? Marshmallow fluff and peanut butter? White chocolate? On and on and on. Their shakes are not to be doubted. And they have almost 30 different types of burgers, with many more combos you can create on your own. Garlic fries are great and, surprisingly, I liked the cheese sauce a lot, something I usually hate. Prices, as noted, can be a bit pricey (Two fries and two shakes - $14) for what it is AND it's cash only. I'll definitely go back, but I'm getting mine to go - All those pictures of kids are kind of creepy, too, like a million eyes are watching me and I can not stand clowns.

I organized a boycott of this place when I was in sixth grade and have stood steadfast in my hatred as others have fallen by the wayside. Remember the woman with the wooden tooth and the horribly mean guy with the mustache who used to work there? Thank them for it. Way to literally scream at a 12 year old for complaining about a burnt to a crisp cheeseburger. I'm not bitter (even though it seems that way), but the story still stands. Fuck Wojo's. Also, I'm most likely still on the wall with the pictures of little leaguers. Go EPBC Broncos and Red Sox! YEAH!

It's been thirty minutes and I still taste the gloriousness of the perfect elk burger I just scarfed down. Perfect? Well, I have never had an elk burger to begin with, so this one wins be default. Tender meat with a perfect pairing of peppered onions (ask for em) and a dabble of nacho cheese (again, ask). It's an orgasm in the mouth...actually.... The prices are steep, then again, where else can you get an elk burger, or an ostrich burger on the southwest side. As mentioned previously, there are over sixty...SIXTY...variations of their milkshakes. From an Amaretto to a Chocolate Cherry Cheesecake, or you can even ask for a customized milkshake, this place is undisputed Milkshake King. Fuck. Are. They. Great. Essentially this is seen as a greasy spoon but with my four times going, my burgers were excellent with NO grease droppings. None. using one napkin just to wipe the mouth is great. The decor of this place is homely with pictures of their sponsored baseball teams from 95 to now. Come around 3pm-5pm you'll get Brother Rice and Mother McCauley teenagers in here.

I go here every time I visit my friends who live in Oak Lawn. This place is great because (a) it reminds me of places we used to eat on the way home from the beach in Southern California when I was a kid, (b) it reminds me of places teenagers used to hang out in in the early 1980s, (c) it's got pictures of Little League teams whose members are probably in their thirties now, and (d) the shakes are really good. They even have decent veggie burgers, and I like the criss-cut fries.
(5)
Emily R.
This place was so good. They have like 70 different milkshakes and while I haven't tried them all I can tell you my favorite is the turtle one so far. Their hamburgers were pretty good, but they haven't different types of meat that I want to try as well like bison dogs and elk burgers. Definitely a place to check out.

You know - it's a really, really good thing that I chose to spend the majority of my money on other (ahem) addictions in high school because if I hadn't, I would've ended up as the half ton teen on that TLC show. All because of this place. Well, this and Burger King. My bestie used to give me rides to and from my public school since it was on the way to her catholic school, which happened to be directly across the street from Wojo's. If I could've afforded the grub on a daily basis, trust that I would be a heifer today. My favorite burger is the nacho cheese, pepper, and bacon jumbo burger with an order of garlic butter fries. Wash it all down with one of their signature shakes and you're in artery hardening heaven! The shakes? Oh man, the list is endless. I'm a fan of almost anything with 'fluff' in it, as well as the Elvis, and the rum eggnog - just so christmasy! The only drawback is if you come here around 3:00 on a weekday, you'll be bombarded by teenagers, bleh. Even still, totally worth the frustration. So go ahead, venture on out to the south burbs and have yourself a $15 lunch. And remember to bring me back some grub. I will gladly pay you on tuesday for a hamburger today :p

The workers here are very nice and personable. Almost any flavor shake you want or think of wojos has. I was here two days ago and got a Burger and fries and it was excellent. I just got the beef burger I don't need anything fancy...they offer several different types of meat

I've been driving past Wojo's for over 10 years and just ate there two weeks ago. I bought their turkey and veggie burger there as well as their sweet potato fries. Everything was delicious. On my first experience, both the manager and I forgot my drinks and when I called back, I was told I'd be given a credit whenever I wanted to use it. Well, two weeks later I went back and my credit was honored. Very good customer service. I even bought some of the frozen veggie burgers for home. Yum!!!

Amazing burger! I had the 1/4 lb. cheeseburger with bacon and it was everything I could ever ask for. The bacon was crisp and crunchy, but not over cooked. The fries were thick cut, salted but not overly so, and cooked perfectly. The only downside I found is the parking lot. There is only one way in and out and it's narrow for larger vehicles. If it wasn't so far from my house if be a regular.

(2)Steven K.
Good clean food, made by people from the neighborhood. Dont misunderstand me this place will not be featured on any show on the food network, but it gets the job done.
(3)Raquel A.
Love this place love the hamburgers and the shakes don't care if prices are up and miss it since moved to Texas I go there every chance I go visit friends and staff is great
(5)Nancy M.

(4)Noah C.

Shakes are good but the dogs are so sad

Strawberry chocolate milkshakes. Old-school style. Yesssssssssss
(5)Hope Z.

Don't ever change,
(4)William R.
Excellent food and amazing customer service everytime and the shake selection is awesome too! Definitely a favorite lunch place for me.

(4)Kay R.

(5)Sarah E.

I also am itching to try their bison dogs, elk, turkey and buffalo burgers..

omg amazing! eat here now! the shakes are to die for.

(4)B C.
(4)Tina B.

(5)John S.
(5)Emily R.
This place was so good. They have like 70 different milkshakes and while I haven't tried them all I can tell you my favorite is the turtle one so far. Their hamburgers were pretty good, but they haven't different types of meat that I want to try as well like bison dogs and elk burgers. Definitely a place to check out.
(4)Emily N.
(5)Donald W.
The workers here are very nice and personable. Almost any flavor shake you want or think of wojos has. I was here two days ago and got a Burger and fries and it was excellent. I just got the beef burger I don't need anything fancy...they offer several different types of meat
(4)Lynette O.
Yum!!!
(5)Darlene L.
